Premiere: Bulova American Clipper Limited Edition

New Bulova American Clipper watches come as nice surprise from the famous brand. Those pieces would be available only in Macy’s stores as Limited Edition. Well, it is 2019 outside, so I can guess this is not a huge issue and those who want will be able to order timepiece wherever they are. Let’s take a look at what is offered to us.

Classic Reimagined

Two watches are named as American Clipper series what should hint on classic series from Bulova. Nevertheless, it is not that simple and designers decided to reimagine design for new limited edition. I would say it is as close as possible to original watches from 50-60’s. Don’t expect additional compications or any other features. Here we get classic three-piece handset on blue or black dial.

Note that dial colors come combined with silver (blue dial) or gold (black dial) case and indices. Both look neat and should be suitable even for some official occasions. Alligator strap comes on both, but I would rather add something smooth here in order to get even “cleaner” look.

Inside and Outside

One look at the dial will help you understand that all odd numbers were replaced with large indices. Such composition looks similar to original design and should be easy to read. Designers also added classic Bulova logo as well as “selfwinding” inscription in the lower section of the dial. All those things are covered with curved “crystal”, but there is no word on whether this is sapphire. I think it is not, let’s consider it as another nice “classic” touch.

Bulova American Clipper comes with automatic movement (reliable Miyota) inside. It can be seen through clear case back. I wonder why balance wheel didn’t receive some special engraving though…

Don’t look at the current offer on the official website. Macy’s web is the right place to go if you would like to order this watch. Note that black dial is a bit more expensive. Note that there is no word on how limited this release will be. Original photos also don’t help in guessing this. 🙂

For such price tag timepiece looks good and should be a nice addition to your collection. Classic design always looks nice, and I think Bulova nailed it with new Limited Edition.
