We are happy to share with you another report from Baselworld 2017, and this time it is dedicated to Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special 40. This is a new version of pilot watch from Swiss manufacturer, and we’ve had a chance to play with it on exhibition.

As you can guess from number in the name of the new model, case size was reduced to 40 mm. Such decision was taken in order to make iconic model a bit more suitable for thin wrists and maybe even attract women. Well, it would be interesting to see lady with such timepiece on hand, but who knows. 😉
You might notice on photos that new model is offered in slightly weathered case. Yes, such finish will be supplied right from factory and it perfectly fits recent vintage trend. This is a weathered steel, and case should ensure waterproofing up to 100 m.
Note that there are several color versions, and you get different dial and strap colors depending on what you choose. Of course number indices are finished in beige and covered with lume on all versions.Here I’ve had a hard time to choose the one I like, so there is no clear favorite for me. I like them all. 🙂
Despite reduced size, newcomer still features in-house automatic movement Zenith Elite 679. This type has 50 hours power reserve, what should be enough for everyday usage.
New watch should be available right after exhibition. Frankly speaking, I have mixed feelings about Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special 40. From one side it features excellent design and great movement inside, but from the other I would prefer bigger version as something even more impressive. Final choice will be up to you, of course, and it will be interesting to see demand for the new model.
