Today we are going to talk about special release from the famous Swiss brand. Zenith El Primero A386 Revival comes as celebration of 50 years anniversary. Watchmaker decided to copy design of the first El Primero, but there are few modern things added. First we’ve met this watch in Baselworld 2019. Nevertheless, those were watch prototypes and meeting was quite short. Here you can see Rose Gold model (number 4 out of 50) which can be bought in Beny shop in Prague. Let’s take a closer look.

Classics Reissued
As it was mentioned above, new watch copies first ever El Primero timepiece. That model was relatively small – just 38 mm diameter with 12.6 mm thickness. Such watch should fit on every wrist and won’t look weird even on lady’s hand.
Our Rose Gold version features whole case made out of this material what adds to classic image. Surprising is that it looks just in place here and doesn’t appear cheap.
Zenith installed sapphire glass here. It still curved and creates nice distortions on the edges. Nevertheless, such upgrade will be handy and should preserve your watch from possible scratches.
Inside we also get the modern movement – El Primero 400 automatic calibre. It features 278 parts and 31 jewels inside. You can appreciate the beauty of this mechanism through clear caseback. As you can see on the photos, we tested fourth out fifty in Rose Gold.
Strap
I hope you remember that we are dealing with Rose Gold watch here. Such Zenith El Primero A386 Revival comes with dark brown leather strap which perfectly matches with classic design. Moreover, strap buckle is made out of the same material and features small Zenith logo.
Watchmaker’s name can be also found on one of the strap halves. All these things look classic, but what about some leather NATO strap? I think it would work nicely with such elegant case.
Impressions
Classic design is the main selling point of this watch. Nevertheless it is nice to see Zenith upgrading few things here and there in order to get even more impressive combo. Thanks to the size A386 is easy to wear everyday, and it doesn’t feel odd even in Rose Gold version.
This is definitely not an “everyday beater”, but it might get the main role in your collection. I am glad that designers didn’t go crazy in dial design and we get classic calm look here. This is definitely a strong selling point, and I can bet this watch will make you smile even 10 years later.
Zenith El Primero A386 Revival – Price and Availability
This is one of the most expensive Zenith watches, and price tag features 25000 USD on it. Keep in mind that each version will be released in 50 pieces only. New A386 definitely has collector’s value, so it might be a fine addition to your collection. I recommend to hurry though – such watches don’t hang around for a long time.
P.S.: I tried to find original El Primero on second hand market, but it looks like such pieces rarely go on sale. It is not difficult to guess that prices are even higher than on today’s reissue.
