Today’s Speake-Marin London Chronograph Bronze hints on the main feature in its name. First of all I would like to note that chrono series from this company has distinctive style which looks simple and elegant. Of course, watchmaker will try to use it with different materials. Well, here we have perfect example. 🙂 Company claims that from now on it will be recurring concept which will reuse famous vintage movements in watches. There is no mistake and in case you are no familiar with that idea, let me explain.
By the way, here you can read about another interesting watch.
Don’t forget to like our Facebook page, so that you can get fresh articles on time.
New model has Valjoux 72 Calibre inside. This is not new movement, and watch fans should be already shaking while trying to hide their excitement. Calibre is quite famous and appreciated among collectors. Add here the fact that it was in recently sold Newman’s Daytona, and you will understand why this is already timeless classic. Moreover, some sources estimate total amount produced to be equal to 750000. That is number for the whole world. Now you get a chance to have this calibre in your new Speake-Marin London Chronograph Bronze.
All classic features are here – manual winding will make you interact with you watch more. Two pushers bring traditional chronograph look to this watch. Three sub-dials will let owner track seconds. Note that this is not some used movement. Watchmaker claims that all components were stored in safe and went throught strict check before being assembled together and installed into new watch. Sounds impressive, right?
Say what you want, but in my mind bronze rings images of the old diving equipment and bulky suits. Well, this watch is not big, and bronze case size measures typical 42 mm. Note that there is no chemical treatment, so it means fast oxidation and quick patina buildup on the watch. This thing should give you truly exclusive watch, but I am not sure if I am fan of such stuff. Just google pictures of some bronze diver and you will know what I am talking about. This is definitely matter of your personal taste.
Oh, and one more thing – be sure not to dive with this beauty. Water resistance is set at 30m level, so it is more of splashproof. I wonder who would try to go diving with this watch though. Well, you never know…
