Münster-based watch manufacturer MeisterSinger has won yet another prestigious award for the unusual design of its timepieces: The Adhaesio, which shows the time in two zones simultaneously as well as the date, was chosen to receive the award by the international jury of the iF Design Award 2016. MeisterSinger builds single-hand timepieces for people with a relaxed perception of time who do not need to count the seconds. These watches use a single hour hand to indicate the time on easily readable minute markers and typographically well designed indices. When designing the Adhaesio, MeisterSinger founder and designer Manfred Brassler enhanced this principle by adding further rings of numbers: Two perfectly balanced disks rotate within the dial. Below the “12” they display at a glance both the date and the time in a second time zone on a 24-hour scale, which the wearer can personally select.

The information is also displayed in contrasting colors. The center and the outer edge of the dial of the award-winning Adhaesio are colored dark blue with a sunburst finish. The two disks have blue and black digits respectively on a white background, enabling the Adhaesio to indicate the local time with great precision using one single hand. The fact that the diverse jury of the iF International Forum Design found the Adhaesio worthy of an award shows us that the vocabulary of MeisterSinger design is understood and appreciated throughout the world.
