I finally managed to visit the Essen Tuning Show which is an annual event and attracts a lot of various tuners from different countries. While Essen city is quite a drive from my place, it was interesting to see what is going on in German tuning world and check various builds closer. Whole visit was quite quick unfortunately, and I guess next time it is worth reserving more time to look around. Nevertheless, there are still few things to tell you, so let’s first check the video-report.
Here you can read report from Ultrace show.
Main Area
I was entering through the main hall, I guess it will give you a better idea on which sequence I’ve seen.

First you could see official stand of Tesla with the robot and Cybertruck. Both were interesting to see, but it felt strange to see those stock cars on the Tuning Show. They could have at least tried to show some project based on Model 3…

Show featured plenty of racecars, so it was interesting to check various small details and how the design works in terms of aerodynamics.

First thing that caught my attention is the collaboration of Ebay and JPerformance on this white BMW E36. I wish all texts would be at least somehow doubled in English, but it is good that today you can at least use the online translator. This car was also presented by author himself, which was quite cool, and it was fun to see fans’ reaction too. 🙂

As you can guess, there was a huge space dedicated to builds from JPerformance. This blue Camaro is a quite nice project to see in person.

MiniGT stand featured the special build of Hyundai i5N, which looked quite balanced. Company also offered several special model editions, and it was worthy getting the special BMW release which was issued in limited amount. I have to note that prices were on par with typical ones in the shops.

It would be strange not to see the famous GT-R here, and there were plenty of those famous cars. Just take a look at the details here.
Visiting Notes
Whole event is one of the main shows in this year, so you can imagine crowds there. I was visiting during the first weekend, and in some areas it took some time to just check out the car. All merch shops were drowning in queues, so be ready to have plenty of patience in order to get the thing you want. Some brands were offering special show Limited Editions, but it is more of a question to you whether something is worth waiting. Don’t forget that you can use the same time to check the actual car, so it is quite a dilemma.

I was a bit surprised with overall organization of parking spaces. First of all, the signs were hard to notice, city was stuck in traffic jams, and all nearby covered parking lots are reserved for VIPs. I had to park on remote open parking, then take a bus and see the show. Well, maybe it is something normal for such shows, but if you compare with already mentioned Ultrace, there is some difference.
As for the food, merch and various attractions, there are plenty of things to check out on the show, and I guess it will stay the same next year too. Some people mentioned that it is better to use the earlier hours for easier walking around cars, but I guess even better idea is to have some special day for additional price.
Conclusion
Whole Essen Tuning Show is interesting, but it feels like it needs a bit more space to actually make it breath. All the exhibitors offered plenty of great projects, and some were worth spending extra time to admire. Nevertheless, I still hope that event organizers will be able to add some special days for extra price so that you can spend a quality time with various cars shown on the event.
In my opinion this is definitely an event I would like to come back next year, so let’s see what will change in comparison with this one.
