New Tag Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition comes as commemoration piece. Swiss manufacturer decided to celebrate 50th anniversary of Gulf victory in famous Le Mans 24 hours race. Note that this model comes as “Special Edition”, so let’s take a closer look at what will be different here. Another thing to keep in mind is that there will be another model available, we will tell about it later in this article.

Blue and Orange
I guess there is no argument that Tag Heuer is a trademark closely associated with autosports. Once you hear its name, there is no doubt that famous Monaco and other models come to your mind. Formula 1 watch is a well-known type, and Swiss masters decided to add classic colors here. There is no need to remind you of legendary color combo, which was present on winning cars in 60’s.
Well, now you can have it on you watch. I have to admit that it looks surprisingly good, and there is not even a hint of cheap-looking bright design. My guess is that not the last role here plays blue bezel, which helps concentrate design over dial. There you will find two stripes finished in traditional Gulf shades. All this goodness is combined together with dark blue leather strap with orange stitching. In my opinion such design would look equally good with official suit or casual t-shirt.
Standard Engine
Well, Formula 1 model is hidden inside, so you can expect quartz chrono in nice sleek case. I am not sure if that will ring alarm for some of you, but in my opinion it is still a decent watch. Add here sapphire crystal glass and 200m waterproof level, and that will sound like a nice choice for everyday use. Yeah, I know, automatic fans will start their typical whining that mechanic watches are way better. Well, in this case you can check another newcomer – Monaco Gulf 50th Anniversary. There is no need to explain on which version it is based, right? Main point is that whole production run will be limited only to 50 pieces!
Tag Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition – When?
Well, watch should be available for order already, so if you are searching for nice summer timepiece, that might be the right choice. As for famous Le Mans race, it started yesterday at 3pm. By the way, note that on official presentations there was Aston Martin. I guess we can expect new Limited Editions in the future. 😉
